Is this hike for you?

We would rather you choose the right day than the hardest one. The route is always adapted to the group, but a few things are worth knowing in advance.

A good fit if you

  • Are in good everyday shape and enjoy walking uphill for several hours.
  • Are comfortable on steep, rocky trails with short climbing sections.
  • Want a private day at your own pace, with a guide who takes your photos.
  • Like to finish a big day outdoors with a thermal soak and a long lunch.

Not a good fit if

  • Anyone in the group is under 12.
  • You have back problems, heart conditions or other serious medical conditions.
  • You are pregnant.
  • You are not comfortable with sustained physical effort or with scrambling on rock.
  • You need a wheelchair-accessible experience.

Not sure? Choose our shorter, more comfortable hike with thermal springs instead, or send us a message and we will recommend the right day.

What to bring

A short list so you arrive ready. If anything is missing, ask us and we will help you sort it out the day before.

We provide

  • Trekking poles.
  • Sun hats.
  • Bottled water in the car and on the trail.
  • A snack pack for each hiker.

You bring

  • Sturdy hiking boots or trail shoes, or rent them in advance.
  • Layers and a light rain jacket, mountain weather changes fast.
  • Sunglasses and sunscreen.
  • Swimsuit and towel for the thermal springs.
  • Cash or card for lunch.

How hard is it, really?

The full route is a demanding day hike. Most guests with regular activity manage it, but the summit is a real climb, and weather decides a lot.

Full route

Four to six hours on the trail, with a steady ascent, short climbing sections and a summit at about 2,220 m. Fit hikers have completed the round trip in around five and a half hours, with plenty of photo stops.

Alternative (short version)

If the group is tired, the weather turns, or the peaks are in fog, your guide shortens the route, turns back at the waterfall section or chooses a trail with less elevation gain, then continues by car to a viewpoint at Lake Potrerillos. You can also choose the short version in advance, and the thermal springs stay in the plan either way.
